Stavros Beach
Stavros is 16 km away from the city of Chania and offers you the chance to swim at the famous beach, where the movie ‘Zorbas the Greek’ was filmed and stretches in an almost circular manner rounded by rocks creating a somewhat amazing and breathtaking scenery that is really worth seeing even just once in your life.
A tourist resort attracting annually visitors from all over the globe with two amazing beaches. The main beach with blue flag, white sand and turquoise water, lies at the foot of the mountain where was filmed the scene with Anthony Quinn, dancing the unforgettable Greek sirtaki and is worth visiting. Situated within a bay, this beach with crystal clear waters is ideal for windy days as you will find the sea really calm and you will make the most out of your stay. A perfectly organised beach with many comforts like sun beds, umbrellas, showers and lifeguards will get a big smile on your face.
Elafonissi Beach
It is located in the Chania prefecture at the southwestern seaside of Crete. Elafonissi is a small uninhabited islet on the southwest of Crete. It is connected to the mainland with a shallow reef (max. depth 1 meter) that allows crossing when the sea is calm. It is a NATURA 2000 protected area as it is the natural habitat of rare and endangered plant and animal species.
The beaches both on the islet and the mainland opposite to it, are considered to be amongst the best in Crete and Greece. The fine white sand and the turquoise waters compose an exotic scenery.
This entire area is an enigma, creating a strong contrast between today and yesterday. Isolated in silence, it comprises a landscape of unique natural beauty which beckons visitors to both enjoy and respect.
Balos Lagoon
Balos Beach is recognized as the most beauty spot on the west coast of Crete. Fittingly, for an island that has accommodated pirates, there is a lagoon, named the Balos lagoon, between the island and the coast of Crete. There is an islet which forms part of a cape, through the lagoon, called Cape Tigani (which means “frying pan” in Greek). North of Balos, at the Korykon cape, are the ruins of the small ancient Roman city of Agnion, with a temple to the god Apollo. Balos beach is a beach that is situated all the way in the north-west of Crete on the Gramvousa peninsula, 53 Km from the city of Chania and 15 Km from the town of Kissamos. Balos beach & lagoon can be reached by cruise ship that departs from the port of Kissamos. Also you have the ability to come here by yourself, driving up to a point and then continuing on foot.
Falassarna Beach
Falassarna is on the west coast of Crete and is a small resort boasting one of the best-known beaches in Chania Prefecture and indeed the whole of Crete, which attracts large numbers of tourists every summer.
Nowadays Falassarna is a famous Cretan destination, thanks to its beaches and also its ecological interest. Falassarna is part of the Natura 2000 network, both due to its variety of flora and fauna and as an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Looking towards Falassarna from the hill after the village of Platanos, you will see many greenhouses, as the area is ideal for growing fruit and vegetables. In front of you are spread two beaches, divided by a few sand dunes: the south beach is longer and wider.
